Fellow Jaycees,

It is with great enthusiasm
and pride that I announce my candidacy for the Office of President of the Raleigh Jaycees in 2010.  My theme for the year will be Membership Matters, specifically focusing on the benefits of membership in the Raleigh Jaycees.  This means that I want to focus on making sure that every meeting and every project we run offers benefits to our members; be it new members, veterans, members with children, lifetime members and even our roosters. I want to know what you want from the chapter and if you elect me as your 2010 President I will make it my priority to work closely with the 2010 team to bring those benefits to every member.

Here is what serving as the Raleigh Jaycees President in 2010 means to me:
PRIDE
!

P
- Proud to be a Jaycee- I am always amazed by the passion and enthusiasm that our members bring to our projects.  It is so exciting to watch a small group of people take their passions and make them happen.  We have an opportunity to help everyone find their passion in the Jaycees!
R
- Raleigh Jaycees- I am so proud to say that I am a Raleigh Jaycee.  We are the strongest chapter in this state and one of the strongest in the country.  The friendships I have made, the leadership skills I have acquired and the trades I have mastered in the Jaycees will last a lifetime!
I
- Involvement- I love that our members can get involved in our chapter as much as or as little as they want to.  I love that we offer our members a chance to run projects, to learn from every experience, and that there is always someone to share the experiences with.
D
- Development- I am proud to have developed as a leader in this organization.  I have learned skills that I would otherwise never have learned.  I have developed as a leader in the Jaycees through my involvement as a member, as a project chair, and as a board member.  I have developed through my involvement in every area of the chapter. I look forward to helping others within our chapter by focusing on the benefits of membership.
E-
Enthusiasm-The enthusiasm I have for the Jaycees is off the charts.  I want to share that with all of our members.  I want to challenge our members to dream, to take chances and to take pride in being a Jaycee!
Overview of my Jaycee experience:

Beyond chairing numerous projects and serving on countless committees, I have served the chapter as Ways and Means Director (2004), Community Service/Community Fundraising VP (2005), Membership VP (2006), Goodfellows Project Chair (2007), Ways and Means VP (2008), and Business VP and Interim Secretary (2009). I would truly be honored to serve as your President in 2010.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.  This is YOUR organization and it will take all of us working together to make certain that the Raleigh Jaycees are still making a difference in the community for another 75 years!

Thank you for your time and service to the Raleigh Jaycees.  I hope you will consider joining the 2010 team and serving the chapter on the board or by running projects. If you are interested in learning more about serving on the board or want to learn more about my plans for 2010 please contact me.

I encourage every member to attend the General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, October 6th to cast your vote for your 2010 Raleigh Jaycees Board of Directors and remember to vote Melissa Taylor Raleigh Jaycees President in 2010.
